Lois Roma-Deeley was born in Amityville, New York (Long Island) into an Italian-American family. Currently she lives in Phoenix, Arizona.Her ethnicity, working class background as well as her strong identification with 'place' influences her work. However, she is considered, primarily, a 21st century metaphysical poet. Critics have called her work 'brilliant, ' 'beautiful' 'tough and brave, ' ' a vital chorus, ' 'voluptous and sparse, sharing and demanding' as well as 'soul-satisfying.'
