Marriott Edgar Comments (4)

R.I.P for Marriot Edar
Marriott Edgar was a genius comedic monologue writer, whose work I greatly admire You can see and read more monologues written by me in tribute to him and in the same style Here at...... www.mikesmonologues.com
I have just bought a cd of Stanley Holloway's unforgettable version of 'Albert and the lion' The sleeve notes say this was a real event which happened at London zoo because of the gruesome nature of the subject the location was changed to Blackpool. Holloway chose the audience at the Northern rugby league annual dinner and dance at Newcastle's Grand Hotel to give the performance which was received with great applause. This is a praphrase of the notes on Delta music cd 'The best of Stanley Holloway'. Can anyone confirm this as true and knows any more details of the original event? Margaret Smith
Albert and The Lion My brother Don recently added his comments regarding the Marriott Edgar Poem Albert and The Lion. I share his enthusiasm for the classic piece, especially considering the connection with our Grandfather Molyneux of Ribchester, England. I am disappointed, however, that he did not do so using appropriate comments written in Cockney Rhyming Slang. I'll see Don 'baked! '
