.6. What A Game

My spider plants have spiders
The sunflower need more rain
Those roses by the pathway edge
Have black spot once again

My elm tree isn’t looking well
A touch of something Dutch
And the old Virginia creeper
Has crept into rabbits hutch

My lawn has sprouted fungi
Shaped like Olympic rings
Whilst all my red potatoes
Have big brown scabby things

I hear the slugs all laughing
As they swim in tubs of beer
After eating all my cabbage leave’s
Now drunk and feeling queer

The neighbour’s cat had called again
And watered all my shrubs
Dog chased him round the garden
Up-turning all my tubs

I don’t know why I do it
When every years the same
I just plant for others pleasure
It’s a never-ending game
