8th Grade Stumblings

Knees knocking
Limbs shaking
Voice quaking
But this is nothing new.

Beautiful on the inside
Graceful on the inside
Warm on the inside
But I'll never let you see that.

Hiding
Watching
Wondering
But I swear my true colors would never waver

Hiding myself from you
Watching for the right one to reveal myself to
Wondering why I can't just let go
But I swear,
Deep inside,
Lies someone better

Someone loveable
Someone touchable
I swear I'm in here
I swear I'm not helpless
I swear you could love me

'cause I already love you
Every last one of you
With all of my heart
Maybe you could love me.
Maybe?

But that I cannot trust
Love is just not enough
To make me come out of my shell
I just need a friend.
