A Blue Iris

The rains had come
to cool and soothe
the ashes & embers
of burnt out thoughts

her heart a blue iris, its
petals shredded by the wind,
too weak to stand, too proud
to sway

a strange blue cancer in
her yellow garden.

Very beautiful imagery here, speaking to me in an especially womanly way. but also I can see its universal meaning and appeal. My irises speak to me, and so did yours.
