A Child Is A Terrible Thing To Waste

A child is a terrible thing to waste
a creation of beauty, perhaps conceived in haste
butchered before the first breath he could take
for convenience, financial or hatreds sake.

A child is a terrible thing to waste
beaten, starved, cursed at with hate
belittled, bewildered, befriended too late,
found by his bedside, interred by the state.

A child is a terrible thing to waste,
told that he's worthless, slavery his fate
has nothing to serve on societies plate,
suicide would be proper for his meaningless state.

A child is a terrible thing to waste;
some time, some love can change one's fate
to show them you care before it's too late,
a young life retrieved from deaths cadaverous gate!
