A Christmas Love Story - 1978
The following poem was written in December 1978 as a letter accompanying a Christmas gift of a gold bracelet to my wife.

On a starry night in a faraway place very long ago,
Three wisemen on camelback, the starry skies explored;
One star in particular, their attention did enrapt,
For they followed it quite far, across a desert track.
The oracle they knew, foretold a king to come,
Who would deliver mankind, for a heaven's ransom.
In respect for their beliefs, they gathered gifts to bring:
Myrrh, frankincense and gold were fitting for a king.
When the star descended on a stable brightly lit,
They found therein a baby, fulfilling Holy Writ.
Their offerings made to Mary on behalf of Christ the King
They retired from the scene forever, leaving men to sing
Of this historic moment, unparalleled again!
But this story has a sequel of benefit to men -
The myrrh and frankincense have faded completely out of view
Leaving gold, the role of precious gift for declaring
. my love to you!
