A Daughter
PB ( / El Cajon, California)

A Daughter

How tiny you were when you were born.
With pretty long fingernails,
And so inquisive and bright.
I never wanted to let you out of my sight.
I wanted everything for you to Be right.
What love you brought into our home.
You were never one to roam.
Now you have a home of your own. I pray that you will seek God's grace
In every storm that you will face.
The highest honor you could give to me
Is that you feel the love God has for you.
For all the rest is temporary you know,
But God's love is for evermore.
