A Deceased Migrant

In the shade of the boughs of a sycamore tree
Far inland from the ocean shore of a country town cemetery
Surrounded by quietness at peace he now lay
From the sea side village he grew up in far so far away
Forever he rests in peace with the love of his life
The Australian woman who became his wife
His children and grandchildren live locally
The descendants of the man from far Brittany
His great love of Homeland he never did hide
He was a Frenchman till the day that he died
The accent of Brittany he did retain
Till the day that he died with him it did remain
A friendly old fellow well liked in the town
In words he never did put anyone down.
