A Diamond In The Rough

Poem By Wilma R. Cole

He is an old man, now -
The brown sinew of his body and hands
Is clearly evidenced in the works
He leaves to man.
A man of humble origin and birth -
He followed the Golden Rule for his fellowman.
He asks only for what is rightfully his;
With respect and dignity he earned with pride.
A man `so called' A Diamond In The Rough.

Man created in the image of God
Is unique in the Universe.
Man alone `creates'.
Through man's creative powers
He directs his Destiny.

He is a light in the sky
Of weariness
A breath of fresh air
In my life.

Restless Dreams

Fogged in is the Metropolitan Dream
Lost in man's blind vision
To build a city.
Peace escapes the city
