A Fleeting Glimpse
I thought I saw you yesterday.
What a price we all must pay.
My heart jumped and jumped again.
A fleeting glimpse, your subtle grins.
So fast the thought entered my mind.
Arm stretched forth while walking behind.
Tugging his sleeve I could not do.
As much as I hoped, it was not you.
Such striking features I did compare.
The way he walked and color of hair.
The shirt, the shoes, the hat and glasses.
All this I noticed as he slowly passes.
It was hard to see and hard to believe.
But it was not you standing in front of me.
Such green pastures are over the fence.
I thought I saw you in a fleeting glimpse.
