A Free Man May Think Of Nothing Less Than Death

"A free man" may "think of nothing less than death"
But what of all the dying and the dead
We have known?
The family and friends
We have lost?

Spinoza was a young man
When he wrote-

But what about the old?
But what about those
Far close to the end
Than to the beginning?

Less free in so many ways
Than ever before
I freely write these words-
