A Hymn To Mankind

Poem By Abraham Oommen

What breeze to leaves conveys in whisper short
The lightning flashes news across the sky
As sea bestows a kiss on lips of lands
A cloud above in wonder heaves a sigh

The pages written by the time and age
With wisdom Nature keeps through speeding time
Let's hold and carry lambent flame of life
And set our goals at heights of shining stars

At times you stand in fire but stay un-burnt
Some times when trials of life but add to sheen
When store of knowledge does desert thy thoughts
Remains the self esteem intact and clean

Behold the halo spreads around thy shrine
As kindness, truth and justice beam on face
This light in darkness shines to brighten life
A moral, ages teach but not well learnt

Recite this psalm of life in tune of love
And sing with lute and harp a hymn of hope
Aspire a world of human beings in peace
Let's weave the dreams with texture fine and strong
