A Lonely God!

Poem By Eric Cockrell

a lonely God...
from dust made flesh,
and filled it with
the haunting spirit of wind.
eyes that open
both in and out,
a fire kindled of bones!

who are we
to run blindly
into the sun?
to hide from the rain
that weeps for us?

idols made of fear,
the soul chokes the spirit.
we stand on the porch,
afraid to open the door!

dust and flesh,
wind and fire...
bones that cry out,
tears lost in the rain.

a lonely God...
walks away!

Comments about A Lonely God!

A great masterpiece! Forces one to reflect and think/meditate deep and honestly! Thank for showing the way.
This was a really brilliant write...really made me reflect. I loved..and filled it with the haunting spirit of wind. eyes that open both in and out, -SG
Why do people call the Gods of other religions as Idols? When we accept and learn other languages, why can't we understand the doctrines of other religions, that emerged at the same time or earlier? Are we, the 21st century human more intelligent than the year 32 human? Lonely God has had no idea of micro organisms and the existence of various continents. Is it the intelligence of human or the God?
A great poem, with a great haunting feeling to it. A fantastic write.

A Child Is Dying

for every tree you cut down,
a child is dying.
for every barrel of oil that
you drill and spill,

it took ashes...
for me to draw
a picture of your living
in black and white...

That's Enough For Me!

from a tiny acorn,
the oak tree grows.
what a man cant find,
a child will know.

I Quit

i quit trying to save the world...
and just offered my hand,
and walked beside it.
i quit trying to find the truth,

opened by the sun,
the faint memory of rain,
and the dark damp earth.
