A Man From Rathmore

In his early fifties his once brown hair is gray
And from the Cork and Kerry border he lives far away
Far south as the crow flies from Hibernia's shore
And from his old border Hometown of Rathmore.

In Warrnambool in Victoria he has spent more than half of his life
A man of Sliabh Luachra he has an Aussie wife
Their son has a son who has turned seventeen
Yet the famed Paps of Shrone they can't claim to have seen.

His Sliabh Luachra brogue it is with him today
A part of the old place that in him does stay
He came from a place of music and Gaelic football
And his youth in east Kerry he often recall.

His hair silver gray it was once chestnut brown
And he lives so far south of his east Kerry Town
Yet he says of Warrnambool by the southern sea
I love this City 'tis home from home for me.

Far from Caherbarnagh and it's face of bracken and stone
And the peaks of east Kerry the old Paps of Shrone
He lives so far south of Hibernia's shore
And even further from the border Town of Rathmore.
