A Mother's Fear

Poem By Theresa Ann Moore

A mother worries about the choices that her son may make.
She knows she has let him make decisions for his own sake.
As sirens scream, a mother sits in darkness choking back tears.
She prays that her boy is safe and calms her doubting fears.

At half past two, beams from headlights flood the driveway.
Relieved that he is home, she tiptoes to her bedroom right away.
She hears an urgent knocking and goes to turn on the porch light.
Patiently waiting at the door is a police officer; he is a somber sight.

I love this one, it is beautiful
Mother's have so many fears even after their out and on their own...There's like a constant nudge in your heart and tummy...I never experieced this but I did get the warning 'beer on the beach' phone call..I think when they're out late at night, while still living at home, in the cars we gave them, we just pray they're safe..This is a sobering and sad, touch your heart poem...hugs, marci.xo
the motherly touch of vindicate.... She prays that her boy is safe and calms her doubting fears. At half past two, beams from headlights flood the driveway. Relieved
I just finished reading your other poem, A Letter To Everyone'. This one has more feeling and comes closer to experiencing that horrible moment.
