A Poet’s Mind

Oh! To have a poet’s mind –
That glides and flexes through the rhymes
where gentle words can say so much –
Like rainbows on an artist's brush

From autumn leaves - to snow in pristine white
Covering everything in sight – Then suddenly
Hardy crocuses - and graceful daffodils
Will mark the end to winter's chills

Yes – every season seems so sublime
As the poet turns them into rhyme
A kaleidoscope of radiant color
As each sentence compliments the other

The wind prancing through a field of corn
The subtle fragrance of early morn’
The poet spins a gentle web of supposition
And the passing seasons are his ammunition

Perfumes of Lilac, Lavender and sweet-scented Roses
Invade your room as he composes
Yes – in summer the poet again takes flight
As his agile pen begins to write

He’ll exalt summer - then autumn's golden hues -
And revel in winter's melting snows – and then it's Spring
and with a sprinkling of words he’ll invoke a dream –
To give a lifetime of – remembering
