A Recipe For Divorce
A Recipe for Divorce
by Aubrey McClure
Take two people, one affair, two cups of alcohol,
And maybe an addiction or two.
Put illness and mistakes and tears for all,
In a basin colored blue.
Strain out the smiles,
Love, hope, and laughter
And activate with the turn of the dials.
All the good memories are hard to recall, after
The loathing begins to multiply and grow.
Every day is harder than the last
And you long to let go
Because your love for each other is past.
Mix in a miscarriage, and a jail cell or so
Until life becomes unrecognizable.
Pour in a daughter with severe depression
And a son whose ego is quite sizable.
Cook until you learn your lesson.
