A Rose In The Road

Poem By toni elise

I see a rose in the asphalt.
Right in the middle of the road.

I see that it's growing.
It looks a little odd,
so red and soft
against the hard, black asphalt.

It is beautiful.

'A rose smells rose, even if it is called by any other name', one poet said. So, rose is a rose even if it comes up from the black asphalt. A fine piece here.
