A Second Coming (To Kayleigh)

So here you are, once again before me turnin' me on
with eyes spouting lava the colour of lavender.

And here we are, our heads in the clouds
wandering in the expanses of my soul's bygones.

But there he is, the lapping wind withholding
the refrain of the turnover of this second coming.

Here I am, journeying back to reclaim
the seeds I had planted for the two of us in vain.

(Original Maltese title: 'U Hemm Aħ na'. Translated by the author himself.)
