A Single Car

A single car.
The sound of leaves,
And the canned bells of the campanile
At the intersection of main and third...

Across the street the lights are still on in the meat market and pretty cashier is dying to flip over her shingle and put her eyeshadow on.

A single car.
The sound of leaves.
My feet ache and my throat aches and everything aches and my mouth feels like it is stuffed with cotton.

A single car.
The sound of leaves.
