A Thirst

The desert is dry
So is the hot blue sky,
Rain would all renew
Yet, not a cloud is in view.

Desolation rises and falls
Leaving the thirst of discontent,
As the needs of the heart
So dryly go unmet.

The last two lines cinch the deal. It's the discomforts of life which move us toward motion again. Great thoughts.
Hey, Smoky! Reading your earlier postings, I came on this one. As to the craft, the rhymes in this one work for me— the logic is preserved, and they flow easily. What most strikes me, however, is the similarity in theme and feeling to a poem of mine. If you are so inlined, see Refresh, O God. -Glen
