A Walk In The Door

A walk in the door
On this most solemn night
I sit- and I wait

What comes in?
a wind, a song, an ebb of light
a leaf of autumn trait?

All these things I do ignore
The door closed but once before
and opened but once again

To wait for the walk in the door
from my long since absent friend
my constant, my companion.

That night, a year ago
I stated to the affect
that we were stitched
by heart and soul at the seam

My nerves did grow
as she paused in neglect
And gave her head a twitch
'Whate'er do you mean? '

She laughed at the notion
as I poured out the purest emotion

She had to leave, suddenly- urgently.
Grabbed her coat, her gloves
'I'll be back in awhile..:
Out the door she did file
My one and only love.

The door closed but once before
and opened but once again

Now I sit- and I wait.

A walk in the door
For her to pass through
and the razorwire
invisible to view.
