A Wishful Thought

If I could hold my tongue,
Stop angry words from being flung,
Sharp insults from spewing out,
If I could go the gentler route,
Be compassionate, say a kind word,
Hate for a few seconds would die,
A moment of hushed peace would lie,
Golden and pure over this troubled world.
