Abandoned

I choose my words carefully
To mock or praise, such drudgery,
A labor for fools and prodigies
And those who dare to willingly

And in my peers I find no support
Optimism wanes from my cohorts
Criticism plentiful in all forms and sorts
All my words fail, I’m forced to abort

Fearing the worse of abandonment
With not a smile from those absent
Grudgingly, alone, along I go silent
I care not that others feel me, errant
