About Regrets.....

with his new cell phone
camera, a high end gadget
with a focus, the one that
blurs the background he had
focused it on me, as i made
a toast for the new year
saying cheers, and he smiles,
trying to make use of his
photography skills, and then
he clicks the camera, and shows
to me the picture of my
face on close-up, and he with
all honesty says, "uncle, you have
aged a lot" and i look at it
in agreement, without protest
and with all respect for the
truth, about what i have become
after all those years: love that
grace of lines on my forehead,
the white hair, and the wry smile,
and all the while the whole
face says nothing about regrets.
