Absence

Do you know what I am thinking?
No, of course, how ridiculous, how…
Foolish is me, is your voice in my head
Counting down days but lost in my ears
I thought I heard you speak but no,
These trees are beautiful, I could write
I could write a letter on white paper
And wrap it and post it and wait.
You touched me once and it stays
Fixed underwater inside my skull,
It hurts you know, you’re hurting me
Blocking up, pressing on pressure
Winding down and winding up, please
Say something, at night I lie
With my arms tight around you, morning
Comes and I wake to your absence
Nestling close as a ghost.
Do you know?
