Across The River
I first met you
On the banks of our little stream.
We'd talk, and laugh,
With no problems at all,
Or so it would seem.
But then, as time went on,
That stream began to flow
With an ever quickening pace,
Until one day, the banks washed away,
And where you went, I do not know.
And finally, that stream became a river
And the river flowed with a swifter gait,
And all I then knew of you,
Is that you were on the other side...
But I could no longer wait.
