Mirror, Mirror

Poem By Wendy A. Bartko

Is it doomed
through pestilence
and poverty?
Is there
a God
to look
with kindness
this continent?

Three million years
it took
to let the scum
of filth,
of war
and genocide
rise to
the top.

It stays afloat
the calamity
of gold.

Some say
that Africa
is now,
at last
to come of age.
A strong
and healthy continent
is just beyond
the far horizon,
Fata Morgana.

One big affinity between us, Herbert. Please read my poem 'Africa'. Susie.
We can hope but Africa is in the same boat as the middle east because of its natural riches.....
We can only hope Africa is due to see better days. Very nice. Sincerely, Mary
