African Queen

From an ancient tribe
You are strong and serene
Your hair coiled in braids
An African queen
You respect the environment
Live a traditional lifestyle
Like generations past
You're in tune with the soil
You survive sweltering heat
You're a steward of lands old
A guardian of earth
More precious than gold

A great poem, Margaret. A powerful message, splendidly presented. Brings to mind the North American Indian, the Aborigine of Australia, Moari of New Zealand. One wonders is the world now a better place? Do we realise how much progress has deprived us of?
