After Death- A Sonnet

Shrouded in a cloud of darkness and death,
Here you lie in a field of black roses,
The Seraphs of Heaven stole your last breath,
Your once beautiful face decomposes.

Your lips once full, now cracked and bloody.
Your eyes once blue sapphires, now dull
Your deep sunken cheeks no longer ruddy
Your skin peeled away showing your skull.

But to me your beauty will be immortal
Always pure, sacred, complete, and total
