After The Fall

I was a cherry tree once:
The flowers grow around me now,
Loosestrife and celandine.

A hundred years, more or less
My poor rings chronicle:
One rainy night, that rainy June

Down I came, waterlogged
And when you last expected it
My branches clutched at the morning.
