After The Long Run

After the long run
I stand and wait
And write a poem
On no real subject for no one in particular-
Perhaps- No poem at all-

I write and rest
And in the writing live-
This has been my story for years
I write and live.

And thus in the quiet
Quickened by the soft morning breeze
Redeem another day – again.
