Age Has Past

Poem By Andrew Rose

The body of the youth is past,
Is laid to rest,
On the youthful breast
Of those who live in this time now,
Of that time then.
The present knowing presence of fast youths
Possessed in faded dreams,
Are just allusions to a time that’s past.
Youth grows up,
Now living out of time from then,
Old youth is lost,
Old youth belongs.

Did time ever used to be like this?
Maybe it did,
Maybe time doesn’t change,
Just me,
Trying to re-capture all that future past,
Or is it past future?
These ghosts now haunt me,
The ghosts of the past,
Because it was my youth,
Now it’s not my youth,
All age has passed.
