Ah Me!

Since four decades I am here,
At times I smile giggle and even shed a drop of tear
Since four decades I feed on the grains
And enjoy the lilting music of the rains.

Now I had no idea of the life a lady who spent two scores
She had refused to spend life in the same daily chores
She was ambitious to set her a mark on her own
And was confident to travel alone
In the journey of life
She was fine,
And enjoyed to accept the challenges life offered her
She was sure to reach afar
Age was no bar.

But society had something else to say
For the society women are dolls of clay
Who must be married to win the title of a wife and mother
Or else there is something wrong with her?

At forty she becomes a topic of discussion
Where society pays full concentration
To pass judgements on her
And even declares a dirty war
To malign her character.

The lady understands no friends only foes
This is how life goes
No problem, let me play my game.

Ah! me

Ah Me... I'm at this point in my life and realizing life starts now. Lovely poem.
Lovely narrative poem elegantly brought forth in beautiful rhyme scheme with conviction. Thanks for sharing Rimni.
There's nothing wrong with being married or single. The thing that is wrong is when someone judges a person because of the circumstances..a ten..
