Amethyst

Poem By SHILU MATTHAI

blue moon roses
fill a white porcelain bowl
light lilac petals
with tender veins;
an amethyst glow
fills her heart,
such wonder, glory
in mauve silks;
they fall on the mahogany
table top
little petal boats
a lavender death
like unrequitted love
yet, a certain splendour
doth taint them
