Are you an angel?
by Robert Lawrence
Did you fall from the sky to save me?
Then I must be a demon.
A messenger of darkness.
I don’t deserve to rise to the surface.
I don’t deserve your light. But somehow, you still insist.
You still want to save me.
I must be possessed by a foreign spirit.
Not harmful, but foreign.
I never felt like this for you.
I never wondered who would save me.
But now. I feel something.
I feel someone’s arm reaching in to save me.
I feel your light. But I turn back once more, in question.
Do I deserve this? Am I destined to be with you?
The answer’s not obvious. But I wish to ask you.
