Angel Eyes

Poem By Michele Weston

Nothing to do but smoke another pack,
It's been a month since you called,
We'd talk int he middle of the ngiht,
In hushed voices so she didn't hear.

They all said you'd ruin my angel eyes,
I guess they were right,
How else could the daughter of a preacher,
Turn into someone like me.

Hidden behind those angel eyes was pain,
You opened the door and made me see,
I'm not like them and neither are you,
We had to hide it from everyone else.

I guess she found out our secret,
Cuz she yelled at you and spread our tale,
Now everyone knows the truth,
They know what's behind these eyes.

There's nothing to do now but smoke another pack,
It's been two months since you called,
We'd talk in the middle of the night,
In hushed voices so she didn't hear.

I promised myself I'd forget you,
I promised myself I wouldn't miss you,
But I cant' get my angel eyes back,
I can't find any closure.

I miss what you did to me,
Our secret gave me fuel for life,
I know I can do better then you,
But your the one who can set me free.

I don't want to lose any of the memories,
Even though no one approved,
And our reputations both ruined,
I can't seem to move on from you.

There's nothing to do but smoke another pack,
It's been three months since you called,
We'd talk in the middle of the night,
In hushed voices so she wouldn't hear.
