Annette Tells The Story Of Her Possum
Each morning as I sit and have my tea
My female possum comes to visit me
She crawls along the wall plate o'er the door
Up through small hole to her nest on ceiling floor.
My possum is hungry and she must be fed
And for her breakfast I break bits of bread,
Small crusts of bread which she takes from my hand
All my possums's needs I've grown to understand.
Some people look on possums as a pest
But of all Earth's creatures I love possums best
And possums more than animals to me
Are part of my extended family.
Each morning around breakfast time at eight
My possum never fails to keep her date
Along the wall plate straight into her nest
Back home from wander to breakfast and rest.
