Arise, My Sun

The dawn anew rose, riding in on a glazed
Trumpeting blast: ballast of fury, immolation,
Sunlight in gentle slumber hidden within the stars
Only slightly, as the earth continues turning
Hiding its face, like a fool in folly ashamed:
The light never leaves, only to one whose back
Is turned. Even in denial, that sunlight still
Scorches from behind. Some things never die.

And even greater, that redemptive turn
Blinded with glory of infinity, luminous rays,
A paralysis of joy, a comfort in a somber return
A shared teardropp like melting frost when
This planet looks back again to see its warm friend.

How a turning melts the heart,
Intriguing
And blissfully so,
Leaving to wonder how darkness could ever be enjoyed…
