Ash Wednesday

Poem By Thaddeus Capek

"Dust thou art and to dust thou shall return."
Forbid it not to happen in Hell to burn.
Forever will be your eternity.
Meditation is also good for me.

The period of Lent seems long.
Through it you should sing a song
Of prayer, penance and almsgiving;
After which you will a song again sing.

Pray each day a little longer:
Alone in your room to linger.
Do penance now for your sins,
You'll save time in Purgatory where it begins.

Almsgiving for the poor is what it's all about;
Fighting your adversary is a serious bout -
Overcoming temptation will prevail
And you will never ever fail.

Keep your strength up for forty days
And you won't be in a daze.
Prepare now for Heaven.
