Asking Her Out

I kept asking her out for a date
She kept telling me to wait,
And that we'd get together very soon
And together we'd stand underneath the moon.
So, I again waited and I waited
But, still in my date book our date wasn't slated,
So, I asked her out once again
She told me for our date she would tell me when.
I told her that we could go out to eat
Or even to the movies where we could meet,
We could even sit on a bench in the park
And talk and laugh until it got dark.
Days came then many days gone
Along with our youth, and then our dawn,
Now I am no longer to her known;
And now she sits at her home all alone.

The way of the world is cruel. Well written. I really enjoyed this one.
