At The Dentist

A rescheduled appointment
The receptionist greets me there
Before long the dentist calls me
I lie back on the dental chair
Sunglasses for the glaring light
Anaesthetic injected in my gum
We chat about the weather
Soon my mouth goes numb
He scrapes the dental cavity
The nurse holds a suction pump
He fills and clamps the cavity
My left cheek's a hard lump
A blue light hardens the filling
An orange shield protects his eyes
The dental clamp's removed
It's all done I realize!
