Baby Brothers

Baby brothers are no bother at all,
Once they grow six feet tall!
Their company can even be sublime,
once they hit the age of twenty-nine.
They can even be introduced to others,
not as pests but as actual baby brothers!
They may even prove to be quite useful,
If one has to be really honest and truthful!
They can even have some good ideas,
Isn't it funny how life is!
After all, one moment, you think never in a million years,
Not even in the outskirts of Tangiers,
And then surprise, surprise,
Baby brothers change right before your eyes,
into a swell bunch of guys! !

This is a jovial poem, written by their older sister, perhaps. I sense the speaker has had to put up with a lot of stuff from those brothers and hoped they would mature, but now they have and her relief runs through the poem. Looking back for her is a pleasant experience as the jovial tone, the rhyme scheme, the muted exaggeration all show/
WOW! i 'love' this. i have one 'baby brother', about two years younger. yes, we had our differences in our youth, but we shared a (large, luckily) bedroom most of the time, and got along well enough. he was the 'wild one' of the family, but i've only learned 'how wild' in recent years when he has told me (mostly over the phone from coast to coast) about his behavior during his teen years and before he got married the first time. he has 'turned out fine'. OF COURSE he 'can't hold a candle to' ME! ! bri :) more great rhyming and story from you, elena. to MyPoemList. sure you don't care to share in a showcase? ! favorite lines: Isn't it funny how life is!
