Barbie Doll

This girlchild was born as usual
and presented dolls that did pee-pee
and miniature GE stoves and irons
and wee lipsticks the color of cherry candy.
Then in the magic of puberty, a classmate said:
You have a great big nose and fat legs.

She was healthy, tested intelligent,
possessed strong arms and back,
abundant sexual drive and manual dexterity.
She went to and fro apologizing.
Everyone saw a fat nose on thick legs.

She was advised to play coy,
exhorted to come on hearty,
exercise, diet, smile and wheedle.
Her good nature wore out
like a fan belt.
So she cut off her nose and her legs
and offered them up.

In the casket displayed on satin she lay
with the undertaker's cosmetics painted on,
a turned-up putty nose,
dressed in a pink and white nightie.
Doesn't she look pretty? everyone said.
Consummation at last.
To every woman a happy ending.

(Part-2) We don't know while criticizing a person for his appearance, we are bringing irreparable damage to his psyche at a deeper level , which is not visible to outside. It is particularly true in case of children and they are more sensitive.
A heart touching write - - - -It is how a perfectly healthy and beautiful girl was judged for her nose and by a careless comment of a classmate she was depressed and lost her spirit and tried every thing to improve her body features. But in the process she lost her life. This is a sad story. (part-1)
this is planned to be in the December 2018 showcase in my PH site. any questions, please ask. Thanks. (:
COMMENT #2: i admit i prefer certain physical characteristics, but wouldn't it be 'better' if physical appearance weren't so important to some? There is so much more to a person. To MyPoemList. And perhaps to a showcase one month on my PH site. Bri (:
COMMENT # 1: my vocal reaction at the end of the poem: Oh, my God. what a ride you have taken us on! ! ! i mentally cringe when i hear someone 'praising' another for their perceived good looks/beauty/cuteness/handsomeness. we, at birth, get a body which for better or worse [[ so to speak ]]. develops physically.
