I sit among the golden strands,
by Stuart Doggett
Caressing them with sun browned hands
And dreaming up the grandest plans
I know will never be.
A gentle breeze rustles the leaves
Of swollen green and laden trees,
Dapple the floor in shades of green,
Dancing to the melody.
Restless wings come in to land,
Insects alight upon my hand,
A touch so light, did I dream it had?
Away and flying free.
Hint of white in endless blue,
Gazing with an unrivalled view
Into that clear and perfect hue
And beyond what might we see?
As light shines down upon my face,
Staring into empty space,
Lying in this idyllic place
Realisation hits me,
What a beautiful world this is.
