Beautifully Orchestrated

Poem By Kathy Dove

Alone, many have stood-
The hedge of memory
unrelenting and compelling
begging the weak to plunge
past the brutal roads
that summoned them here

A winded concerto
beautifully orchestrated-
on not less than heaven's voice
exposes a calm above the surf
Seagulls soar over distant billows
an unclouded glare offering
promises not yet filled

Unraveling, peace beckons
swallowing taintless breath
I am without shelter
and joyfully drink the warmth
as life listens still-
to my passionate tune
Honoring my beginning
and nourishing the chapters
that lie beyond today

I survived the burn
and rise sure-footed
on barren land
as virile seeds grow from-
a faithful heart

What Irony

What irony-
tells both the sweetest
and most melancholic stories...
