TAM (1940 / Michigan, U.S.A.)

Before Dawn

Along a rutted country path lined with trees
The spokes of a chartered bike blur in a spin
A ride taken before the morning sun lifts the fog
There is only one intention; the goal is to begin

Stopping on a bluff looking down on tops of green
Standing with expanding lungs and limbered limbs
Absorbing the soft illumination of a tranquil scene
A blazing light bursts forth over the earth’s brim
