Before Midnight Comes
by Lawrence S. Pertillar
And hours after midnight has passed,
I find I am still not satisfied...
To have done the best I could yesterday.
Or the day before.
When I promised I would tomorrow.
And then when tomorrow comes to arrive,
I am awake hours after midnight has passed.
To find I am not satisfied,
With the excuses I make.
That yesterday to have made,
Didn't seem as often repeated.
So now I've made it a priority,
To at least create better excuses.
Or just tell myself each day,
I am making progress...
To do as best I can with it done.
Before midnight comes.
