Before The Ball Drops

I am no richer than what I was
And I did not find my true love,
The book that I spoke about I did not write
And of course I did not ever go on a diet.
Traveling to the beach I never went
And my letter to the editor it was not ever sent,
My promises and my hopes all did diminish
As not one home project did I ever finish.
Here again I stand and I contemplate
Who truly knows my destiny or my fate,
But, my dreams and my hopes will not ever stop;
As I wait for the New Year's Eve ball to drop.
